Our Approach

Straughan prepared a comprehensive report detailing current state goals and requirements, impacts to MTA operations, recommended actions for compliance, and prioritization of energy efficiency and emissions reductions measures. Analysis included requirements in the 2022 Climate Solutions Now Act, designed to help the state reach a 60% overall greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction by 2031 and net zero by 2045, with comparisons to outlined agency goals and policies.

Working with the client, Straughan was able to review facility-specific energy audit recommendations to prioritize improvements, with considerations for unique aspects of operations, budget availability, and ways to incorporate widely recognized best practices to optimize energy use and decarbonization. This collaborative process allowed for a detailed report that leverages practical knowledge to develop recommendations and the relevant resources, including a summary of grant opportunities and funding resources, to implement recommended actions.
