Our Approach
Straughan is supporting the Maryland Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) Office of Environment in meeting sustainability and energy goals through implementation of compliance measures aligned with the Climate Solutions Now Act, Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act, and related State requirements. Our work includes benchmarking transportation business unit facilities in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, supporting utility database management, preparing MDOT’s Energy Action Plan and All State Agencies Recycle reports, and coordinating energy audits and performance improvements across MDOT facilities.
Straughan is also supporting waste diversion and staff engagement initiatives, sustainable procurement, and financing strategies for energy and green building upgrades. In coordination with MDOT and other State partners, the team is helping advance energy performance strategies and providing third-party verification of energy benchmarking data to support compliance with Maryland’s Building Energy Performance Standards.
