The Role as the Director of Environmental Programs

As the Director of Environmental Programs you will join our senior management team. You will enjoy leading people and see their contributions, see their potential, and support their ongoing development.  You will recognize business opportunities and develop business, to include multimedia environmental compliance, remediation environmental planning/NEPA, and sustainability/resiliency planning that supports the advancement of Straughan’s future capabilities and capacity. A candidate’s specific area of technical expertise is not as critical as their  leadership capabilities, and their innate drive to secure business opportunities The ideal candidate will be highly and intrinsically self-motivated, self-directed with an entrepreneurial mindset, while understanding and contributing to the organization’s top business priorities with your unique perspective, experience and skills.  You will ensure that all relationships are your priority including all direct reports and long-term client relationships through proactive engagement identify solutions to challenges that arise. Here are more specifics:

Location:  Mid-Atlantic Region or Houston, Texas
Primary Responsibilities: Project/Program Management, Leadership Skills, Client Relationship Development and Management, Proposal Development, Technical Guidance, and Quality Assurance
Key Performance Metrics: Revenue Growth, Contract Performance/Client Feedback, and Business Unit Outcomes

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 15+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a group of 10+ people by being a resilient, creative leader who understands the importance of being a role model and leads by example, supports and develops the team both individually and as a group.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing large projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience capturing and securing new work.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to maintain and grow projects and programs.
  • Writing proposals with the highest level of technical writing skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills.

+Desirable Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MS, ME, MBA, PhD)
  • Professional certification such as PMP, AICP, PE, CHMM, PG
  • Active involvement in professional organizations
  • Author of technical publications and speaking engagements
  • Experience in the following markets: federal government, utilities, renewable energy generation
